Peter Evers of Amsterdam and MobileGuru.nl has a great post describing how to change the icon of your App Inventor app. He also provides info for publishing an app on GetJar, an alternative to the Android Market.

Has anyone tried uploading a full application, with icon already set, into app inventor, then packaged it and downloaded it to their phone in apk? It would be interesting to see if it sends the appropriate icon value in the androidmanifest.xml file?
There has to be a way to prepare these apps for the market place for distribution.
